You will set the strategy, lead a talented team, and partner with senior leaders to deliver commercial value, operational resilience, and ESG-aligned outcomes. You will own the end-to-end third-party lifecycle—from category strategy and sourcing through to contract management and supplier risk oversight. You will lead a small procurement team and set a clear three-year strategy aligned to cost efficiency, digital transformation, operational resilience, and ESG priorities. Working closely with the Executive, Technology, Operations, Finance, Risk & Compliance, and Product teams, you will ensure our supply base underpins delivery of the Society's strategic plan. You will also act as a trusted adviser on supplier strategy, market dynamics, and commercial decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and delivering a three-year procurement and supplier management strategy aligned to Society priorities.
  • Leading and coaching a team of procurement professionals, setting clear objectives and building capability.
  • Establishing and embedding a category management framework across key spend areas.
  • Running end-to-end sourcing activity, including RFP/RFQ processes, negotiation, and recommendation.
  • Embedding a structured supplier management and governance framework, including tiering, performance oversight, and remediation.
  • Ensuring robust third-party risk management aligned to FCA/PRA expectations and operational resilience requirements.
  • Driving commercial value through savings initiatives, improved contract governance, and enhanced supplier performance.

What type of person will you need to be?

You will be a confident and inclusive leader who brings clarity, structure, and commercial insight to complex challenges. Able to influence at Executive and Board level, you will communicate with credibility while building trusted relationships across the organisation. You will balance strong risk awareness with a pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset, ensuring compliance without unnecessary bureaucracy. Naturally collaborative, you will enjoy coaching others, strengthening capability, and creating a positive team culture. With sound judgement and a calm approach, you will be comfortable managing competing priorities and making decisions that support both resilience and long-term value.

Just let us know if you need any reasonable adjustments made to our recruitment processes; we will try to accommodate them.
