About the Role: This is an on-site, full-time Visual Merchandiser role based in Taunton. The Visual Merchandiser will be responsible for creating visually appealing displays, maintaining product layouts, and ensuring products are attractively presented to enhance the customer experience. The role involves collaboration with the retail and sales teams to optimise store aesthetics while promoting the store’s products effectively. Additional responsibilities include ensuring visual consistency and supporting sales initiatives by creatively showcasing seasonal and promotional items. This is a pivotal role, reporting directly to the Managing Director.
About You: You will be a dynamic and creative Visual Merchandiser, with extensive experience, ideally in the retail sector. You understand the impact that cleverly designed retail spaces can have on sales and customer engagement. You’re confident working independently, yet your excellent communication and collaboration skills also enable you to work with a diverse range of people, while managing multiple projects simultaneously. Instead of problems, you see opportunities, and can persuade others to see them, too.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute visual merchandising strategies across store layouts, window displays, and promotional setups.
- Collaborate with store management and marketing teams to align stock ordering with visual presentations, seasonal campaigns and product launches.
- Use commercial acumen and business awareness to make visual decisions in collaboration with management.
- Monitor and analyse sales performance to optimise display effectiveness.
- Ensure brand consistency in all visual elements and maintain high standards of presentation.
- Regularly update and refresh displays to maintain customer interest.
- Train and guide store staff on visual merchandising standards and techniques.
- Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging design techniques.
- Conduct regular store audits to ensure compliance with visual guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
- Proven experience as a Visual Merchandiser, Retail Designer, or similar role.
- Proficiency in creating compelling window and in-store displays to captivate customers.
- A keen eye for visual design and attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt to seasonal trends and maintain a clean and organised store environment.
- Experience in buying and stock turnover management.
- Proficiency in design software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
- Knowledge of current fashion, lifestyle, or retail trends.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Background in retail visual merchandising, preferably within a garden centre setting.
- Experience with planograms and retail analytics.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for creativity.
