We are seeking a Technical Accountant to join our team, and to be the in‐house expert focusing on revenue recognition, plus also be involved with other areas of the month‐end reporting on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will focus on revenue accounting for our services‐based business, ensuring full compliance with IFRS 15 (Revenue from Contracts with Customers) and group accounting policies. You will analyse complex client contracts, identify performance obligations, and implement appropriate revenue recognition methods. This role involves close collaboration with global service teams and the finance function to support accurate, timely financial reporting. The position requires the legal right to work in the UK. Based in Central London (hybrid working with 3 days in the office), this role reports to the Head of Group Reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply IFRS 15 standards: You will ensure that all revenue is recognised in accordance with these principles (e.g., identifying performance obligations, assessing control transfer, and properly accounting for any associated contract assets/liabilities).
  • Technical accounting documentation: Prepare and review detailed accounting memos, journal entries, and schedules related to revenue contracts. Document accounting treatments for new contracts or contract modifications under IFRS 15.
  • Financial close and reporting: Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes by ensuring accurate recording of revenue and related balances, including any revenue recognition exceptions.
  • Audit and stakeholder support: Provide timely and clear technical explanations to internal stakeholders and external auditors on revenue accounting. Respond to audit queries regarding contract accounting and revenue recognition, and ensure supporting documentation is maintained.
  • Revenue Controls: Provide input into the design of controls and central processes around IFRS 15 compliance.
  • Support group team in other accounting areas: Assist with other accounting areas such as IFRS 16 (Leases) and IFRS 2 (Share‐based Payments), ensuring consistent treatment and compliance across the group. This role would also lead the Group's implementation of IFRS 18.

About You

  • Accounting qualification: ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with strong post‐qualification technical accounting experience.
  • Standards expertise: In‐depth knowledge of IFRS 15, with exposure to other accounting standards like IFRS 16 and IFRS 2.
  • Industry background: Services, digital media, advertising, consulting or technology services experience is desirable.
  • Analytical skills: Advanced Excel and strong financial analysis abilities.
  • Communication: Clear communicator, able to simplify complex technical issues.
  • Personal attributes: Proactive, detail‐oriented, and deadline‐driven.
  • Eligibility: Must have the right to work in the UK.
