Monks is undertaking a period of transformation as it aims to reset its foundations for a sustainable future. The newly formed Procurement Team, responsible for Group related procurement, is playing a key part in this by optimising its third party supplier-base to drive value for our business, and level-up how we manage our spend. Procurement Managers will feed into this in two ways - (1) to significantly optimise and improve its existing supply-base; and (2) support the business by leading supplier sourcing and negotiations. If you are a quick thinker and a hard negotiator, bringing commercial acumen, analytical skills, and strategic thinking you will drive cost efficiencies within Monks and deliver transparent and reportable value reflected in our bottom line.
Key responsibilities:
- Sourcing and vendor management: Source, evaluate, and select vendors, managing the end-to-end process, including running RFPs and tenders.
- Negotiation and contracting: You will be responsible for executing negotiation strategies across high value, high complexity spend, driving costs down and service levels up.
- Collaboration: Instigate and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders, developing an understanding of the business direction, requirements and priorities and delivering these from a procurement perspective.
- Team working: Ability to collaborate effectively every day with colleagues who have vested interest in 3rd party suppliers - Finance, Legal, InfoSec and Budget Holders to identify opportunities to bring additional value, reduce costs and mitigate risk.
- Category strategies: Support and develop category strategies, setting a clear contracting and negotiation roadmap.
- Face and voice of Monks Procurement: Guide internal stakeholders on the Procurement process and influence behaviours in accordance to Monks’ global procurement policy.
Unique Challenges of the Role:
The ideal candidate brings strong procurement / commercial / negotiation expertise, a track record of managing multiple procurement projects in a dynamic environment whilst delivering strong bottom-line impacting results, with the ability to influence in a matrixed and multicultural environment. This position requires agility, tenacity, and strong stakeholder management to succeed in an environment marked by:
- Greenfield procurement environment: Be able to operate to a high level whilst procurement undertakes a transformation to establish itself in 2026 - at pace and be effective.
- Decentralised Procurement landscape: Driving change to centralise procurement activities and reap the benefits.
- Data limitations: Navigating incomplete or fragmented spend and usage data to support strategic decisions.
- Change management: Challenging the status quo and embedding new ways of working across teams and geographies.
5+ years experience in a Procurement role or similar. A demonstrable track record in sourcing technology needs in a fast-paced, rapidly growing global business. The flexibility to work quickly and think on your feet - but not cut corners. Understanding TCO and managing this with business owners and broader stakeholder groups. A clear understanding of commercial contracts and critical negotiation points including KPIs, SLAs, commercial models, and service credits. Ability to manipulate, evaluate and draw conclusions from large sets of data and present information in a suitable format to a senior audience to support Procurement recommendations. Have a clear idea as to what good looks like in this role.
At Monks, we believe in fostering an environment where a diversity of perspectives can thrive. We proactively work to design hiring processes that promote equity and inclusion while mitigating bias. We celebrate diversity and are committed to building a team that reflects the communities we serve.
