We are seeking a highly collaborative Commercial Legal Counsel to support our Europe, Middle East and Africa region. The Counsel will be part of the EMEA legal and business affairs team, focusing heavily on high-volume commercial contract drafting, review, negotiation and providing strategic and operational legal counsel across all areas of our business in EMEA, including content, digital marketing, advertising, technology, and data initiatives. This role will partner closely with our business and client leads, commercial finance, content and technology teams and wider global colleagues. The role is based in London and reports to our Director in EMEA, who is also based in London.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with drafting, review and negotiation of client contracts in EMEA, including client MSAs and SOWs, technology licensing and reseller agreements, influencer and media partnerships, SaaS/vendor agreements and agency/client service contracts.
- Working with internal teams to respond to RFPs and RFIs from our clients and participating actively in client pitches to help our business win.
- Working closely with peers in our other three key regions: (i) Latin America; (ii) North America; and (iii) Asia Pacific, to develop consistent standards, tools and processes across the global Legal and Business Affairs team.
- Advising on other aspects of our EMEA business as required, including litigation (where necessary in conjunction with external counsel).
- Help develop standardized contract templates and tools that improve process efficiency and legal protection.
- Help build automations and tools that make us more efficient as a team.
Background, Qualifications and Skills:
- Qualified lawyer with 1-5 years of post-qualification experience. England and Wales admission preferred. Additional admissions in other jurisdictions a bonus.
- Demonstrable experience of negotiating, reviewing and drafting commercial contracts, ideally in an in‑house environment.
- Experience in advertising, media agencies, digital media and/or technology strongly preferred.
- Ability to work professionally in other European languages a bonus.
- Proven ability to work with cross‑functional teams and independently manage a high‑volume workload in fast‑paced, innovative environments.
- Excellent commercial judgment with a strategic mindset.
- Ability to translate complex legal issues into pragmatic business advice.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently with the business and take ownership of matters from start to finish.
