Every year we recruit over 350 people for our Back to School Summer period. BTS is the single most important trading period for Monkhouse, servicing its customers with the best people and best products to ensure children are ready to go back to school in the new academic year.

We pride ourselves on hiring students as first-time employees and play an important role in allowing them to upskill, learn, and build up their CVs, something they will need for future careers.

And would you be comfortable doing these tasks:

  • Serving customers by ensuring they have the right sizes, colours, and uniforms for their child.
  • Working on the cash till, by taking payment and packaging customer purchases.
  • Tidying up the shop and stock room, including hoovering and dusting.
  • Checking deliveries and booking stock into our stock control system.
  • Unpacking stock from deliveries and restocking products in the shop.
  • Answering the telephone with customer queries.

Below are 5 things we want you to build into your day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Switch off lights when the space is not being used.
  • Switch off computers at the end of every day.
  • If possible, avoid bringing in one-use plastic water bottles.
  • Only fill up the kettle for the number of cups of hot drinks you are making.
  • Dispose of waste responsibly by using our recycling processes.

What are my hours? Our contracts are based on 9 hours per week.

What's my location? We are located in King's Macclesfield School, with free parking and Battle training station within a few minutes walking distance.

Our team: Every store has a dedicated manager that you will be reporting to and alongside you, there will be shop sales assistants who have experience but also new assistants who are joining for the first time.

Holidays: Your holiday entitlement is 28 days per annum including bank holidays, pro-rated to your hours of work and pro-rated to your term of employment. These accrued hours will be paid at the end of your contract.
