In this senior leadership role, you’ll be instrumental in shaping strategic direction, strengthening operational excellence, and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred transport services across the UK. You’ll need to demonstrate a strong track record of executive leadership within healthcare, social care or medical transport services, alongside a deep understanding of regulatory compliance and NHS commissioning frameworks.
Strategic Leadership
- Collaborate with the Executive Team to define and deliver the strategic and commercial vision.
- Design and implement a cost-effective and sustainable fleet procurement and asset management strategy.
- Drive innovation in service delivery models to enhance operational efficiency, patient outcomes, and long-term value.
Business Growth & Development
- Identify, secure, and develop new commercial opportunities across NHS and private healthcare markets.
- Optimise performance within existing NHS contracts and independent healthcare partnerships.
- Monitor commercial performance against agreed objectives, ensuring sustainable and measurable growth.
- Align business expansion plans with evolving healthcare and social care priorities.
Operational Oversight
- Provide executive oversight of day-to-day service delivery, ensuring safe, responsive, and high-quality patient transport operations.
- Implement robust health and safety, clinical governance, risk management, and quality assurance frameworks.
- Oversee fleet acquisition, maintenance, compliance, and lifecycle replacement planning to ensure operational resilience.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory standards and statutory obligations, including those set by the National Health Service, Care Quality Commission, and Health and Safety Executive.
- Maintain adherence to all applicable legal, clinical, and corporate governance frameworks.
- Lead the development, review, and implementation of company policies and procedural standards.
Financial Management
- Provide strategic oversight of financial planning, budgeting, and revenue optimisation initiatives.
- Monitor cost controls, contract performance, and resource allocation to maximise operational efficiency.
- Work in close partnership with Finance to develop solid pricing structures and sustainable revenue models.
Leadership & Culture
- Lead, mentor, and inspire multidisciplinary operational and clinical teams.
- Foster a high-performance culture centred on quality, accountability, professional development, and staff retention.
- Ensure workforce planning, recruitment, and training strategies meet both regulatory requirements and service demand.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with NHS trusts, local authorities, healthcare commissioners, and insurers.
- Represent the organisation at industry forums, regulatory engagements, and partnership meetings.
- Champion service excellence to ensure consistently high levels of patient and stakeholder satisfaction.
Essential Criteria
- Proven senior leadership experience within healthcare, social care, patient transport, or related regulated environments.
- Demonstrable success in strategic planning, commercial growth, and operational transformation.
- Strong knowledge of NHS commissioning structures and CQC regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent financial and commercial acumen, with sound strategic decision-making capability.
