Protect customer money. Strengthen the controls that keep it safe.

We’re looking for a Financial Operations Manager to lead the day-to‑day operation of MoneyPlus’s client money and financial transaction processes across Debt Management Plan and Individual Voluntary Arrangement activity.

You’ll lead an 8 FTE team and have a direct influence on the accuracy, timeliness and resilience of critical payment processes - from receipt and allocation through reconciliation, fee transfer, distribution, refunds and exception resolution. You’ll also help strengthen the control framework, reduce manual risk and prevent repeat failure.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead safe, accurate and timely client money operations across DMP and IVA activity.
  • Maintain robust reconciliations, books and records, segregation of duties, approval controls and evidence that critical controls have been completed and independently signed off.
  • Investigate breaks, shortfalls, excesses, suspense and aged items, ensuring corrective action and escalation happen within the required timescales.
  • Own the operational lifecycle for client money incidents and breaches, including root cause analysis, remediation and clear evidence.
  • Maintain CASS 11 operational evidence, support the annual client assets audit and Compliance testing, and deliver agreed actions to closure.
  • Produce clear MI and risk indicators for senior stakeholders, highlighting trends, control weaknesses and decisions required.
  • Lead controlled process, technology and automation improvements that improve accuracy, efficiency and resilience without weakening control.
  • Coach and develop an 8 FTE Financial Operations team, building competence, cross-skilling, succession and effective absence cover.

What we’re looking for

  • Practical, current experience leading regulated client money or comparable safeguarded‑funds operations, with clear evidence of control ownership and escalation.
  • Deep practical knowledge of CASS, including hands‑on application of CASS 11 debt‑management client money requirements.
  • Experience of a CASS audit and CASS 11 resolution pack.
  • Strong experience of reconciliations, books and records, payment controls, shortfalls or excesses, incident management and remediation.
  • Evidence of designing, operating and improving risk and control frameworks and using root cause analysis to prevent repeat failure.
  • People leadership experience in a high‑volume, time‑critical operational environment.
  • Strong Excel and data‑analysis capability, with confidence using banking/payment, case‑management, reconciliation or reporting systems.

Helpful, not essential

Power BI, SQL or automated reconciliation experience can be useful. A relevant professional qualification or recognised CASS/client-assets training may also be beneficial. We are interested in transferable evidence where it shows comparable regulated‑funds control, operational leadership and risk‑management capability.

  • We provide First Aid for Finances, helping people move from crisis to control.
  • Our debt advice and solutions combine digital convenience with human care, supporting customers through some of the most challenging financial circumstances they may face.

This role has direct influence over the protection of customer money, the quality of operational controls and the resilience of critical payment processes. You’ll have the scope to strengthen how the team works, improve evidence and governance, and shape controlled process and technology change across a broad set of internal and external relationships.

How we work

Our MoneyPlus values are:

  • We’re Always Ready: Be organised, prepared and accountable; plan capacity, priorities and contingencies so critical controls and customer payments remain protected.
  • We Raise the Bar: Challenge weak controls and unsafe workarounds, use evidence and root cause analysis, and keep improving how work is done.
  • We Work as One: Collaborate across Finance, Operations, Compliance and Risk, Product and Technology, Data and external partners while maintaining constructive challenge.
  • We Treat People Right: Protect customer money and fair outcomes, act with integrity and professional courage, and handle sensitive information with care.

If your experience shows strong ownership of client money controls, regulated financial operations, people leadership and evidence‑led improvement, we’d like to hear from you.

You do not need to meet every desirable criterion. MoneyPlus is committed to inclusive recruitment and can provide reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process.
