The Board of Directors is legally, morally and financially responsible for the organisation. The Non-Executive board members are not expected to be involved in day-to-day management of the organisation. Their primary responsibility is to provide independent oversight and constructive challenge to the Executive Team.
This oversight role will include:
- Making sure that funds are used to help beneficiaries effectively
- Making sure that the strategy is in line with the articles of the organisation
- Making sure that the organisation has enough funding to meet its objectives
- Making sure that the organisation has effective senior management
- Making sure that the organisation operates within the law
- Making sure that the board can handle its responsibilities effectively
- Monitoring performance of the Executive team
- Setting the remuneration of the Executive team
- Making sure that financial controls and systems of risk management are robust and defensible
- Making sure that the organisation properly accounts to investors by presenting a true and fair reflection of its actions and financial performance.
Each Non-Executive board member will also be expected to assist the Executive from time to time in their key skill areas.
Responsible for: The effective governance and strategic leadership of Moneyline and delivery of its mission and vision.
Location: Monthly Board meetings and committees are held virtually with quarterly meetings held face to face in London. Other meetings may be required from time to time across the UK and site visits to Accrington (office).
Purpose of the role: Working with the Chair of the Board to provide independent oversight and strategic direction to the Executive Team and ensure delivery of the organisation’s mission and vision.
- Strategic leadership: With the Chair, provide leadership to Moneyline and its Executive Team, ensuring maximum impact of the organisation. This includes participating in effective governance and ensuring the organisation operates within the objects as stated within the memorandum and rules of the society.
- Governance: Ensure governance arrangements are working in the most effective way for Moneyline and meeting the requirements of the regulator (FCA) and the Senior Managers Regime. Ensure that you engage in a continuous process of developing your knowledge and capability to keep pace with current and future organisational developments.
- External Relations: Act as an ambassador for Moneyline, maintaining close relationships with key stakeholders, acting as a spokesperson for the organisation when appropriate, representing Moneyline at external meetings and events.
- Efficiency and effectiveness: Participate in meetings of the board effectively and efficiently, bringing impartiality and objectivity to the decision-making process while ensuring that decisions are taken in the best interests of Moneyline.
- Relationship with the Executive Team: Establish and build a strong, effective and constructive working relationship with the Executive team, ensuring they are held to account for achieving agreed strategic objectives.
- Fund raising: Proactively fund raising for Moneyline by supporting the work of the Executive Team in this area and assisting with identifying new funding streams and opportunities.
