Core Responsibilities & Weightings

  • Product Strategy & Roadmap (40%): Engaging stakeholders, running robust product discovery, identifying pain points, and synthesising complex market requirements into clear product outcomes and constraints.
  • Engineering Collaboration & Execution (40%): Partnering with engineering to frame problems, scoping appetites, setting clear boundaries (e.g., using frameworks like Shape‑Up), creating focused pitch documents, and tracking product success metrics.
  • Sales Enablement & Go-To-Market (20%): Developing compelling internal collateral, demo materials, and asset frameworks to support sales, marketing, and customer success in driving rapid market adoption.

What would success look like?

3-Month Ramp: Discovery & Foundation

  • Focus: Deep immersion into the product domain, tech stack, and internal workflows.
  • Measurable Milestones (Target OKR Indicators): Complete an audit of current user journeys and insights capabilities, identifying the top 3 friction points based on usage data and client feedback. Successfully author and present 2 comprehensive “Pitch” or product scoping documents to engineering using internal delivery frameworks. Document at least 2 distinct workflows within their immediate product ownership that have been streamlined or accelerated using AI leverage tools.

6-Month Ramp: Execution & Optimization

  • Focus: Owning the delivery loop and tightening the GTM feedback mechanism.
  • Measurable Milestones (Target OKR Indicators): Drive an autonomous product delivery cycle from shaping/discovery through to deployment, meeting agreed time and boundary constraints. Deliver a complete sales enablement toolkit (demos, collateral updates, positioning sheets) for a major insights/journey release, leading to a documented increase in internal sales confidence or customer pilot sign‑ups. Design and implement an automated data‑capture workflow that funnels usage insights from deployed features directly back to the sales and customer success teams.

9-Month Ramp: Strategic Impact & Transformation

  • Focus: Moving the needle on core business metrics and scaling transformation efforts.
  • Measurable Milestones (Target OKR Indicators): Demonstrate measurable growth in customer adoption or engagement metrics across the Portals and Journeys portfolio (target % metrics to be confirmed upon hiring). Evidence a reduction in development cycle times or discovery overhead within their squad, directly attributed to system automation or AI workflow optimisation.

Essential Requirements

  • The Product Mindset: Relentlessly curious. Naturally asks “why” five times to isolate root customer problems and balances high empathy with hard business data.
  • Influence without Authority: Exceptional collaborative leadership. Capable of aligning diverse stakeholders across tech, sales, and senior management behind a single vision.
  • Extreme Ownership: A mindset that rejects shifting blame. They own the adoption failures, the engineering bottlenecks, and the strategic pivots, converting every misstep into transparent organisational learning.
  • Structured but Fluid: Process‑minded enough to run rigorous discovery, yet adaptable enough to pivot clean‑cut priorities when unexpected data or market realities demand it.

Target Backgrounds & Flexibilities

  • Industry Sector: Experience within highly complex B2B SaaS ecosystems is required. While direct fintech, pensions, or smart decisioning software exposure is highly beneficial, we will flex for candidates with world‑class product fundamentals from adjacent complex data/SaaS fields.
  • Scale‑Up Ecosystems: Past exposure to fast‑growing, lean scale‑ups is highly preferred. The candidate must be comfortable operating with less infrastructure, showing the hustle required to build processes from scratch rather than just maintaining them.
  • Delivery Frameworks: Familiarity with modern product scoping models (e.g., Shape‑Up) is a distinct advantage, but secondary to their core ability to manage tech boundaries and deliver value.
