About the role
In this role you will be a Scala engineer in a cross‑functional development team.
Likely technical challenges you will be facing in your first year at Moneyfarm will be related to adapting the architecture of our systems with strong customer growth in mind.
Over time you will become the go‑to person within the team for backend development.
You also take initiative to learn/research new technologies and deliver code of great quality, keeping technical debt under control.
A successful candidate in this role will be pragmatic, collaborative, value simplicity and effectiveness, and be biased for action.

Key Responsibilities
- Build an understanding of the Moneyfarm architecture as a whole, develop in alignment with it and contribute to plans for improvement.
- Produce code of great quality with the right degree of test coverage.
- Review code constructively, and work with your colleagues to continuously improve the way we work.
- Keep abreast of technological developments in the industry and their relevance to the company.
- Share your knowledge and apply it to improve the Moneyfarm systems and the lives of your colleagues.
Requirements
- You have at least 2 years of commercial experience in software engineering, a BSc in Software Engineering or Computer Science or higher degree non essential, but nice to have.
- Scala commercial experience is highly preferred, but not essential provided you have strong transferable skills, e. g. Java 8+, Kotlin, etc.
- Typescript experience is a nice to have.
- Experience working with microservices architectures, event streaming systems and cloud providers is also preferred. Kafka, Kubernetes and AWS knowledge is a plus.
- A good understanding of agile methodologies (particularly Kanban/Lean), their principles and their ceremonies.
- Used to working with Git and performing code reviews.
- Familiar with CI/CD concepts and tools like Gitlab CI.
- Focussed on testing and extraordinary attention to details.
- Experience in fintech or wealth management is nice to have.
- Able to communicate effectively in English (written and spoken), Italian is a nice to have.
Level & Compensation
We apply CCNL Credito and based on candidate’s experience and skills, we will assign title of Software Engineer II.
