Your Next Challenge: We are seeking a Service Automation Engineer (graduate/early-career) to join our Service Automation team, building automation capabilities that reduce operational toil, integrate disparate systems, and enable self-service platforms within secure guardrails. As Service Automation Engineer, you will learn to automate within guardrails - developing automated workflows, integrating systems, and creating self-service capabilities that empower internal customers while maintaining zero-trust security boundaries. You'll work closely with senior engineers, learning through hands-on implementation of real automation challenges. This is an individual contributor role with strong mentorship - you'll deliver working automation while building expertise in software engineering, cloud platforms, and enterprise integration patterns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hands-On Automation Development
    • Build automation services and workflows under guidance from senior engineers
    • Develop APIs and integrations across tools (e.g. Jira, GitHub, Azure, monitoring platforms)
    • Create automation features following established patterns and frameworks
    • Write unit and integration tests to ensure quality
    • Implement logging, metrics and observability in solutions
    • Support internal users of automation and self-service platforms
    • Document code, runbooks and usage guides clearly
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with support from senior team members

Learning & Skill Development:

  • Build foundational knowledge of cloud platforms (especially Azure)
  • Develop programming skills in Python, C# or Go
  • Learn API design, authentication and integration techniques
  • Gain exposure to workflow orchestration and event-driven systems
  • Build understanding of CI/CD, testing and engineering best practices
  • Learn security fundamentals (zero-trust, secure-by-design)
  • Participate in design discussions and learn from experienced engineers

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • 1–2 years’ experience in a tech role or relevant degree (Computer Science, Software Engineering, etc.)
  • Basic programming skills in at least one language (e.g. Python, C#, Go, Java)
  • Understanding of software development fundamentals (Git, testing, basic problem-solving)
  • Awareness of APIs (REST, HTTP, JSON concepts)
  • Strong willingness to learn cloud, automation and integration technologies
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and support technical users
  • Good communication skills and ability to document work clearly
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies

Essential Technical Skills:

  • Software Development
    • Working knowledge of Python, C#, or Go (or willingness to learn)
    • Basic understanding of APIs, HTTP and JSON
    • Version control using Git (branching, pull requests)
    • Awareness of testing practices (unit and integration testing)
    • Debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Cloud & Platforms
    • Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS or GCP) or strong interest to learn
    • Familiarity with developer tools (IDEs, CLI tools, package managers)
    • Basic understanding of authentication (tokens, credentials, secrets)
    • Awareness of container concepts (e.g. Docker)
  • Supporting Technical Users
    • Clear written and verbal communication
    • Ability to document solutions and create simple guides
    • Structured approach to troubleshooting
    • Confidence to ask questions and seek guidance

Please note: This is a full-time, permanent position with an opportunity to work hybrid in our London office.
