We are looking for a Lead QA engineer to join our team, who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. You will be working with a high calibre team to continuously develop new products/features.

What You’ll Do

  • This is a hands-on role and as a senior member of the QA team, you’ll help ensure the quality of Moneybox products, reporting into the Senior QA lead.
  • Seamlessly deliver numerous large and complex projects, acting as the sole QA on a squad, managing competing workstreams through strong prioritisation and time management.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define testing and release strategies that effectively balance risk, speed, and quality.
  • Run engaging, cross-functional team meetings (e.g. amigos, retrospectives, go/no-go) that promote positive outcomes and actions.

  • Identify and communicate issues, dependencies, and solutions to the squad and senior management, ensuring strong coordination and prioritisation.
  • Assess features for test automation suitability, collaborating with engineers on various test types and contributing to end-to-end automation.
  • Own QA metrics, perform root cause analysis, and champion continuous improvement in ways of working, processes, and tooling.
  • Proactively support team members through mentoring, coaching, and management to foster their career growth.
  • Be a visible leader and role model within the QA team, actively supporting departmental operations and promoting learning and sharing across the QA function.

  • You have proven experience in designing and implementing comprehensive test plans and automation frameworks.
  • You exhibit strong organisational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a pragmatic approach to bug reporting, understanding risk, impact, and dependencies.

How to prepare for a job interview at Moneybox

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Moneybox uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
