Job Brief

We are looking for an exceptional junior-mid level lawyer, with a strong commercial focus and the appetite to take on broad responsibility. This role offers significant exposure across the business at an important stage of the company’s growth, with a blend of professional variety across commercial, product and data protection work, as well as personal fulfilment. You'll have the autonomy to shape and own your areas of responsibility while building strong relationships across the business. What you'll do

  • Draft, negotiate and advise on a broad spectrum of commercial agreements, including with IT suppliers (SAAS, AI etc.), general services providers, banking partners and sponsorship and marketing partners.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders on the rollout of new products, processes, and promotions.
  • Advise on data protection matters, including controller and processor terms, privacy notices and wider DP queries.
  • Partner with our Compliance Team on regulatory queries.
  • Draft and update customer-facing terms and conditions and related materials.
  • Help drive the implementation of legal tech, including AI-assisted contract review and enhanced CLM functionality, to scale the function.
  • Advise on a broad range of other legal activities, including IP, employment, property, and litigation, as needed.
  • Provide training and education to the business on legal matters.
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant legal developments and proactively advise the business on potential impacts.
  • Work closely with and manage external legal advisors.

Experience and skills

  • 2-5 years PQE lawyer, with excellent legal credentials, ideally having trained at a city law firm.
  • Prior in-house experience at a start-up or scale-up is welcome but not required.
  • Strong experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, particularly IT (including SAAS, reseller agreements, software development and more).
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with a proven ability to juggle and prioritise a large number of competing matters.
  • Pragmatic approach to advice, with the ability to understand our business and apply an appropriate commercial lens to reviews.
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Financial services / regulated industry experience is desirable.
  • Experience with legal research.
  • Fluency in English.

This is a hybrid role. Our office is in London, by the Oxo Tower.

Working Policy: We have a hybrid policy that includes 2 days from our London office and 3 from home. If the role states it is either hybrid or remote candidates must be based within the UK.
