The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.
The successful candidate will be a qualified solicitor with expertise in motor finance and litigation to assist in setting its litigation strategy, both for claims brought against it, as a firm, and against other third parties. The successful candidate will be required to support and advise Moneybarn’s Legal Services Team and Senior Legal Assistants on the merits of litigation. The post holder will provide advice on the commercial viability of claims as well as define robust approaches to prevent increased litigation. Experience of communicating with senior stakeholders is key, as well as the ability to coach and mentor others within the team. This role will report directly into the Head of Customer Operations Specialist and Legal Services, with day-to-day support provided to Moneybarn’s Senior Legal Assistants.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with legal claims brought by / against Moneybarn particularly relating to motor finance commissions and other companies in the group where necessary.
- Advising on Motor Finance Commission Claims, working both with internal stakeholders and external parties such as Counsel and external law firms.
- Attending industry forums particularly in relation to developments in Motor Finance Commission Claims and appraising relevant internal stakeholders on the same.
- Work closely with the Head of Customer Operations Specialist and Legal Services to define a litigation strategy, particularly on matters of high volume and commercial sensitivity.
- Provide mentoring and coaching to Moneybarn’s Senior Legal Assistants to ensure that costs are mitigated in any Court action brought against the firm.
- Adhere to the FCA conduct rules.
- Be proactive in approach to case management.
Qualifications
- Qualified solicitor.
- Have a good working knowledge of all aspects of general dispute resolution work, with particular emphasis on motor finance commission claims.
- Be able to assist and offer support to the Legal Services Team.
- Be able to assist and advise on the management of varied caseloads held by the Senior Legal Assistants, with commercial prowess.
- Have excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.
- Be articulate and reasoned with legal opinions and advice.
- Proven track record of advising on litigation, specifically in the consumer credit sector.
- Relationship experience with external firms, regulators and industry bodies.
- Strong understanding of regulatory expectations.
- Action orientated, and solution focused approach.
- Experience of drafting papers for review at Executive Committee level and SLT.
- Highly articulate at understanding and summarizing complex legal case studies.
- Strong stakeholder management with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven in gaining feedback to aid ongoing development.
- Good enthusiastic communicator.
- Encourage energy and bring to life employee engagement linked to good customer outcomes.
