Role Overview
The Pension Wise Guider will report directly to Team Leader. In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Provide face-to-face pensions and retirement guidance to customers, ensuring all guidance complies with relevant quality standards.
- Help customers understand the implications of their pension choices by explaining complex information clearly and using strong numerical skills.
- Raise awareness of pension scams and fraudulent activity, supporting customers to recognise risks and report concerns through appropriate channels.
- Produce timely, accurate, and easy to understand follow-up information that reinforces guidance provided during appointments.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and shared best practice across the Guidance Service and wider delivery network.
- Capture and report required management information accurately and on time.
- Participate in projects, workshops, meetings, and promotional activities to support ongoing service development.
You would be joining our home-based team of specialists providing the above services to the public between the times of 8 am to 8 pm Monday to Saturday. Our telephone lines are open 8 pm to 8 pm and shifts for this role will be set within this time. As a flexible employer we are open to discuss what work patterns are mutually beneficial to meet the needs of our business.
You will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Strong numerical ability and the capability to explain financial information clearly and confidently.
- Solid foundation in pensions law and practice, gained through a pensions technical role.
- Broad understanding of occupational and personal pension arrangements, with strong knowledge of DC schemes.
- Excellent communication and questioning skills, able to translate complex topics into clear, accessible guidance.
- Proven ability to work independently, meet quality targets, and manage time effectively.

Our Recruitment Process
- Stage 1: Application (27th Mar – 12th Apr) Submit your CV highlighting your relevant skills and experience.
- Stage 2: Technical Test (30th Mar – 14th Apr) If shortlisted, you’ll receive a link to complete a pensions based technical test. Upon receiving your technical test please note you must complete this within 24 hours of receiving it.
- Stage 3: Telephone Interview (31st Mar– 16th Apr) Successful candidates will be invited to a telephone interview with a Reed consultant.
- Stage 4: Final Interview (Starting from the 20th Apr) A virtual panel interview with MaPS, including competency based questions.
