This is a business-led leadership role, supporting the Service Owner, and focused on bringing together service operations, policy, governance, suppliers and technical teams to ensure the service is safe, resilient and well-managed as it moves into and through live operation. The role is accountable for the safe, stable and effective operation of the service, and responsible for maintaining grip across change, readiness and performance, ensuring that business priorities are translated into clear, coordinated activity across the ecosystem.
You will provide oversight of how change is planned, governed and landed, making sure the right people are aligned, the right decisions are taken at the right time, and the service remains stable and responsive as it evolves. Success in this role will depend on judgement, coordination and leadership across organisational boundaries, with a strong focus on service outcomes, accountability and operational confidence.
The Pension Data Platform (PDP) delivers pensions dashboards that allow people to see all their pension information securely, online, and in one place. The PDP is the infrastructure that connects thousands of pension providers to dashboards through a secure, high-scale ecosystem. As the platform moves from build into live service, the focus is shifting from delivery at pace to delivery with resilience, quality, and control.
The Lead Delivery Manager is responsible for getting things delivered: reliably, at pace, and in a way that stands up in a live, regulated environment. This role sits at the centre of the build-to-run transition. You will lead the end-to-end delivery of platform changes and capabilities, ensuring that technical teams, suppliers, policy requirements, and operational needs are aligned and moving together.
You are responsible for turning strategy and policy into working services, managing delivery risk, and ensuring the platform evolves safely and predictably as it scales. You will act as the central point of integration across teams and partners, ensuring that delivery is coherent, risks are actively managed, and changes land effectively into the live service.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Delivery Leadership
- Own delivery of platform changes and releases across the PDP ecosystem
- Ensure delivery plans are realistic, sequenced, and aligned to key milestones (including industry readiness)
- Manage dependencies across teams, suppliers, regulators, and industry partners
- Multi-Supplier Delivery Management
- Lead delivery across a complex supplier landscape, holding partners to account for outcomes
- Act as the integration point between technical delivery teams and the wider programme
- Ensure delivery is joined up across infrastructure, product, policy, and onboarding
- Transition and Change Management
- Ensure all delivery is designed with live service in mind, including operability, supportability, and resilience
- Work closely with Service Operations to land changes safely into the live environment
- Embed release governance, change control, and readiness checkpoints
- Risk, Issues, and Assurance
- Identify and actively manage delivery risks, issues, and dependencies
- Ensure delivery is aligned with assurance requirements (e.g. DWP, internal governance, programme controls)
- Provide clear, honest reporting on progress, risks, and trade-offs
- Delivery Planning and Governance
- Establish and maintain delivery plans and roadmaps aligned to strategic priorities
- Drive disciplined delivery governance, including sprint/release planning and tracking
- Support decision-making by surfacing choices early and clearly
