Department Overview

Finance departments need to constantly monitor the effectiveness of their activities and respond to any problems identified. The need for financial departments to constantly adapt to their unique circumstances may include taking on additional responsibilities or relinquishing existing ones.

Finance Department Activities

• Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable: Accounts Payable (AP) manages the company's outgoing payments, ensuring timely and accurate disbursement to suppliers while optimising cash flow. Accounts Receivable (AR) drives the collection of incoming payments from customers, safeguarding revenue streams and ensuring timely cash inflow.
• Accounting function: The Accounting Department maintains and records all business transactions accurately and comprehensively in a systematic way. It provides a basis for performance assessment and creates accountability across the organisation.
• Financial Reporting function: Financial Reporting transforms raw accounting entries into usable and comparable financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and processes.
• Tax function: The tax function includes tax compliance and reporting, as well as tax advisory, managing challenges such as changing regulations and complex transactions.
• Finance business partnering function: This function emphasises finance’s role in contributing to the business rather than pursuing a narrow departmental agenda.

Job Overview

To take financial ownership and accountability of MEL, MTS, MEHL, MEM. To become the expert in the financial regulations and process for the assigned region and be the main point of contact.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

• Financial Reporting and Control: Preparing, reviewing and being fully responsible for the management accounts pack for the responsible entities ensuring compliance with UK regulations.
• Accounts Payables/Receivables: Oversee the collation of invoices for payments and supplier records.
• Tax and Compliance: Ensure the correct tax criteria is used for all invoices.
• General: Lead and support internal and external audits, project work, and other tasks as required to support the Finance team.

Business Knowledge / Technical Skills:

• Previous experience of working within a regulated investment firm.
• Strong demonstrable experience in a similar role within a commercial environment.
• Strong accounting, finance and bookkeeping background.
• Understanding of key accounting concepts and reporting requirements within the UK.
• Strong knowledge of UK financial regulations.
• Ability to analyse complicated data and collate information.

Leadership / Management Skills:

• Leads by example, embodying the culture and values of the Company.
• Cultivate an environment of psychological safety, innovation, creativity and increased productivity.
• Previous line management experience essential.

Systems / Knowledge Skills:

• MS Office; Outlook, Word, Excel including V-Lookups, pivot tables, PowerPoint.
• Finance – Workday is an advantage.
• Databases – FXDB (In House).
