Trade Support Engineer – High Frequency Trading | Multi-Strategy Hedgefund | London

My client, a prestigious and rapidly expanding systematic trading firm, is seeking a Trading Systems Engineer to join a critical London-based team.

You will be a key member of the Application Support team , responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of the firm’s trading systems. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with traders, developers, and infrastructure teams to enhance trading operations, automate processes, and troubleshoot mission-critical issues.

As part of a high-performance global team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring maximum uptime for trading activities, proactively identifying and resolving technical challenges, and contributing to the evolution of cutting-edge trading infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure maximum availability of trading systems, minimizing downtime and swiftly resolving issues.
• Provide technical support for production trading environments across a variety of asset classes and global locations.
• Develop and enhance automated monitoring and deployment tools to optimize system performance.
• Troubleshoot trading system incidents, working closely with internal development teams and external market participants.
• Automate software configuration and deployment processes to minimize manual errors.
• Collaborate with traders, infrastructure teams, and developers to improve trading efficiency and system reliability.
• Document operational procedures, troubleshooting guides, and system architecture to streamline support processes.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience supporting high-performance electronic trading systems in a Linux-based production environment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to navigate and resolve complex technical issues quickly.
• Hands-on experience with FIX protocol and alternative exchange connectivity methods.
• Knowledge of SQL for querying, updates, and database maintenance.
• Understanding of network communications , particularly multicast networking .
• Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash, or similar) for process automation is a plus.
• Ability to operate in a high-pressure, fast-paced trading environment with rotating on-call responsibilities.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
