My client, a boutique hedge fund is seeking a Business Data Analyst to join their London office.
Reporting to the Head of Data Engineering, you will sit at the intersection of business stakeholders and a small, high-impact engineering team building a modern enterprise data platform that supports trading across equities, options, commodities, futures, credit and fixed income derivatives.
The role is business-facing. You will gather and structure requirements, translate complex business needs into clear technical specifications and acceptance criteria, and work closely with Data Engineering to ensure data products follow architectural standards, Data Mesh principles and defined data contracts.
You will also drive adoption of the platform by engaging stakeholders, gathering user feedback and educating internal teams on how to access and interpret datasets.
The ideal candidate will have 7+ year's experience in the financial sector (ideally buy-side), with a strong background in market data and alternative datasets across multiple asset classes. Advanced SQL expertise is essential, along with a solid understanding of data modelling, financial identifiers and entity mapping. Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, DataHub, Kubernetes, Snowflake, Postgres or Dagster is advantageous.
Excellent communication skills are essential, as is a demonstrated use of AI tools in a professional context. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is required, with a Master’s preferred. My client will offer a strong uplift in base salary, alongside market leading bonuses.
