My client is a multi-billion dollar multi-strategy firm hiring a Senior Software Engineer into its front-office engineering group in London. The work is greenfield application development: portfolio management platforms, order workflow, intra-day position and P&L modelling, FX hedging, trade lifecycle, and the orchestration layer that sits underneath all of it.
The engineering culture is small, senior, and genuinely autonomous. There's no architecture committee and no requirements handed down from above. You gather what you need directly from PMs and traders, make the architectural call, and own the outcome. The expectation is that you operate as a technical peer to the investment teams, not a service provider to them.
The technical bar is high. Deep production C# and .NET is the foundation. Beyond that, the firm is looking for engineers who have built systems that front-office professionals depend on in live environments, who understand the difference between what a PM asks for and what they actually need, and who are comfortable moving between greenfield builds, complex integrations, and modernisation work without losing velocity. Financial markets fluency is a real advantage here: P&L, position management, execution workflows, and the commercial logic behind them.
Comp is up to £400k TC. For an engineer who wants ownership, proximity to the investment process, and problems that are genuinely hard to solve, this is the role.
