Senior Systems Engineer - Global $15bn AUM Hedge Fund - London

We are partnered with a high-performing, globally renowned hedge fund. With exceptional performance and a rapidly expanding global presence, our client seeks a top-tier Systems Engineer to join their Infrastructure team in London. This team is responsible for building and expanding the private cloud platform which powers all workloads across the firm. As a Systems Engineer, you will play a central role in scaling and maintaining their global on-prem datacentres, automating system configurations, and delivering high-performance compute, storage, and network environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provision and configure physical/virtual servers across global data centres
• Manage and troubleshoot virtualisation platforms and hypervisors
• Automate systems administration tasks across both Linux (Debian-based) and Windows environments
• Build and maintain Infra-as-Code for service configurations and deployment (e.g., load balancers, HA setups, middleware)
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues at the hardware, OS, and application level
• Implement monitoring and alerting using Prometheus and related tooling

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Strong experience with Infra-as-Code (Terraform, Vault, Consul, Nomad, etc.)
• Automation expertise using Ansible or Puppet
• Deep understanding of both Linux and Windows server administration
• Hands-on experience with virtualization stacks (Containers, KVM, Proxmox, etc.)
• Knowledge of high-availability setups (HAProxy, Keepalived)
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines
