Our client, a global, multi-billion dollar AUM, multi-strategy hedge fund, are looking to make a newly created 'Market Data Specialist' specific hire, to sit within their global Data team. Working as part of a lean team, consisting of leading professionals within the buy-side data space, you will report directly to the Global Head of Data.
You will work alongside different functions globally to ensure that internal data infrastructure, data contract frameworks and relationships with crucial external stakeholders (such as Bloomberg, FactSet, Refinitiv) are managed and improved in an efficient and smooth fashion.
The core remit combines both commercial and 'hands-on' data and Vendor management responsibilities - the hire will work with/manage market data vendors & all relevant contracts (licensing, renewals, usage analysis) + the onboarding of new partners. The hire will also play a key role on major projects to improve internal data usage and spend management, the procurement lifecycle and supporting the integration of new tools to be used by the wider team.
Additionally, the hire will be using their technical skillset (Python/SQL) to create dashboards and data reporting tools for senior management supporting with future procurement needs. This is an opportunity to join a lean, highly collaborative team of individuals and be able to drive real impact across the firm.
As such candidates should ideally have 2 - 5 years experience as an MDM / Market Data Analyst / Vendor Management Analyst at a buy-side firm, bank or major data vendor (albeit we could potentially consider exceptional juniors looking to step up). Candidates must be willing to work in a lean team and take a ‘hands-on’ approach with all aspects of the role.
Candidates should have a strong academic profile and experience using SQL and/or Python as a data visualisation and reporting tool. This is a crucial hire and first of its kind for the team, so my client is committed to offering the successful hire a significant increase on their current base salary. Top performers in the data management team typically receive large % bonuses on top of this. The firm also offer what is arguably an industry leading benefits package.
