A global alternative asset management firm is recruiting a Management Accountant to join their finance function in London. They've just migrated to a new accounting platform, which means there's a genuine opportunity for someone early in their career to help shape how financial processes work across the business.
You'll report into the Financial Controller and be responsible for the day-to-day running of the accounting operation across several entities. You'll manage the general ledger, run reconciliations, oversee the close process, and build the management accounts and variance analysis that guide the leadership team. You'll be expected to understand the cost base inside out, flagging anomalies before they become problems, and can explain what's actually happened beneath the surface of the headline numbers. There's also scope to take on some FP&A-lite work as we develop our forecasting and budgeting. A significant part of your remit will be identifying ways to use automation and AI tools to streamline how these workflows run, so there's real scope to contribute ideas and see them implemented.
You should be qualified from a Big 4 or mid-tier firm (0-2 years PQE), with a strong academic background and solid accounts prep exposure (not just audit). You'll need excellent excel skills and the ability to pick up new systems quickly; ideally you'll have some exposure to enterprise accounting platforms, treasury systems, or automation tools. Given the extensive interaction across the firm, you need to be effective and confident when communicating with people across the business, and have a genuine appetite to challenge how things are done and find smarter ways of working.
The firm offers a competitive base salary and benefits reflective of the London market (up to £75k). Compared to many of their peers, they have got a much better work-life balance with hours typically around 8.30-5.30/6. They have a central London office and go in 4 days a week. Turnover in the finance team is low, which reflects the excellent culture and progression opportunities.
