We are partnering with a leading global investment organisation seeking a rare individual: someone who has built platforms - not merely operated them. This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering, SRE, and automation, serving a firm where software delivery reliability and velocity are mission-critical.
Their engineers run infrastructure where reliability directly affects business outcomes - measured, profiled, and continuously improved across live systems.
The Successful Engineer:
- Build and own a self-service internal developer platform - engineers commit, everything else is automated.
- Python background.
- Design and standardise CI/CD pipelines and release frameworks adopted org-wide.
- Run EKS clusters end-to-end: scaling, infra decisions, cost, reliability.
- Own production - incidents, MTTR reduction, post-mortems, and fixes.
- Drive a zero-touch DevEx: commit → test → deploy with no human gates.
- Operate independently as a solo SRE across complex, high-scale systems.
The Toolkit:
- AWS (deep), Kubernetes / EKS, Terraform or equivalent IaC.
- CI/CD platform design: GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Tekton, or similar — templated, not ad-hoc.
- Observability: metrics, tracing, alerting - built-in, not bolted on.
- Database ops: Aurora, PostgreSQL, SQL - practical, production-grade.
- AI-assisted engineering a strong plus - uses tooling to improve delivery velocity.
Ideal Background:
- Proven experience in fintech, trading, or other high-availability, scale-critical environments.
- Has shipped a platform that other engineers use daily without thinking about it.
- Talks in systems and patterns - not individual tasks.
The Environment:
This organisation operates on a flat structure - no committees, no bureaucracy. Engineering and business sit shoulder-to-shoulder. Infrastructure that's faster and more reliable doesn't just run better - it changes outcomes. If you believe platform engineering is a craft, and automation is the only truth - this is the environment you've been building toward.
