We're representing a global hedge fund looking to hire a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to design, build and own business-critical applications across its trading, treasury, finance and investment operations platforms.
The engineering environment spans C#/.NET, Java, SQL, microservices, distributed systems, streaming data pipelines and cloud infrastructure , with an increasing focus on AI engineering, large language models (LLMs), workflow automation and production AI platforms .
This is an opportunity for a strong software engineer who wants to combine traditional full-stack development with the practical application of artificial intelligence, helping determine how AI can transform complex financial workflows.
What makes this particularly interesting is the level of engineering ownership. There are no dedicated project managers or business analysts sitting between the engineers and the people using their software.
You’ll work directly with traders, treasury professionals, finance teams and senior stakeholders to understand the problem, design the solution, build the application and take responsibility for its performance in production.
You’ll also help shape how AI is introduced into the business, identifying genuine opportunities for automation and productivity rather than implementing technology simply because it’s fashionable.
What you’ll be doing
- Design and develop scalable full stack applications using C#/.NET or Java , supporting critical financial and operational workflows.
- Build and maintain software across trading, treasury, finance, data processing and investment operations .
- Contribute to the architecture of microservices, distributed applications, streaming pipelines and data-intensive systems .
- Work directly with business stakeholders, taking projects from initial requirements through architecture, development, testing and production delivery.
- Help develop the firm’s AI platform capabilities , identifying opportunities to incorporate LLMs, AI-powered tools and intelligent workflow automation.
- Evaluate the practical limitations of AI technologies, including reliability, accuracy, operational controls and production suitability.
- Work with large datasets, complex data models and SQL-based systems .
- Contribute to engineering architecture, code quality, technical standards and long-term platform strategy.
- Mentor junior engineers, review code and influence technical decisions across the team.
What we’re looking for
- Strong commercial experience in full stack software engineering , primarily using C#/.NET or Java .
- Excellent SQL skills and experience developing data-intensive applications.
- A solid understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, microservices and production engineering .
- Genuine technical knowledge of AI, machine learning and large language models , including where these technologies can and cannot be applied effectively.
- Demonstrable experience delivering AI-enabled applications, automation tools or AI platforms into production .
- Experience owning projects throughout the full software development lifecycle.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage directly with non-technical stakeholders.
- An engineering mindset focused on maintainability, scalability, performance and long-term system quality.
Particularly interesting
- Kafka, event-driven architectures or stream processing .
- Experience working across public cloud, private cloud or on-premise infrastructure .
- Financial services, investment management or trading technology experience.
- Experience mentoring engineers or contributing to broader architectural decisions.
