My client, a leading private equity firm, is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join their Investment Team in London. This is a unique opportunity to join a newly established engineering function embedded directly within the investment team. You'll work alongside investment professionals to design, build and deploy AI-powered applications that enhance every stage of the investment lifecycle - from due diligence and financial model validation to investment committee preparation and portfolio monitoring. This is a hands‑on delivery role focused on building production‑grade tools that become integral to the day-to-day workflow of investment teams.
What You'll Do:
- Partner directly with investment professionals to understand workflows and translate them into production‑ready AI applications
- Build and maintain AI‑powered diligence tools, financial model review solutions, investment committee memo generators and portfolio monitoring dashboards
- Develop production‑grade Python applications using modern LLM technologies, including RAG pipelines, agentic workflows and evaluation frameworks
- Own delivery from initial scoping through deployment, iteration and ongoing maintenance
- Collaborate closely with a central AI engineering function to improve shared tooling, governance and reusable components
- Ensure solutions are robust, well‑tested and trusted in high‑stakes investment decision‑making environments
Who You Are:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building production applications
- Strong Python and SQL skills, with experience developing maintainable, production‑quality software
- Hands‑on experience building and deploying LLM‑powered applications, including retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), agentic workflows and evaluation frameworks
- Experience working closely with financial, commercial or investment professionals in an embedded, consulting or product engineering capacity
- Strong understanding of software delivery, stakeholder management and working within ambiguous, fast‑paced environments
- Familiarity with financial services, private equity, investment banking or fintech is advantageous, with sufficient financial acumen to understand investment workflows and identify inconsistencies in AI‑generated outputs
