My client, a leading hedge fund, is seeking a Director of Platform Engineering to join their London team. The successful individual will be responsible for designing, building, and operating their Azure platform from the ground up, including landing zones, identity, networking, governance, and hybrid connectivity. You will work directly with the CTO and the internal infrastructure team to define how cloud is used across the firm, establishing practical platform standards and reusable patterns.

This is a rare opportunity to build and shape a modern, scalable cloud platform in a financial environment while supporting engineering and data-science teams moving critical workloads onto the platform. You should have strong hands-on experience designing and running Azure infrastructure at scale, with deep expertise in identity and access management, hybrid networking, and infrastructure as code. You'll need a strong security mindset, practical experience with cloud governance and compliance automation, and the ability to document standards clearly and help teams adopt them effectively.

Ideal candidates should have experience with the below:

  • Designing and operating Azure landing zones end-to-end, including management groups, subscriptions, identity, networking, and security baselines
  • Azure IAM and identity management
  • Hybrid and cloud networking (ExpressRoute, VNets, private endpoints, private DNS, segmentation)
  • Building and maintaining infrastructure as code using Terraform and/or Bicep
  • Scripting and automation in Python, PowerShell, and Bash for platform operations and CI/CD
  • Implementing cloud governance, including Azure Policy, tagging standards, environment guardrails, and compliance automation

My client has committed to offering a competitive base salary with strong increases on market rates, along with a highly competitive bonus structure. They provide an excellent benefits package and a collaborative, high-performance environment where engineers are empowered to make a significant impact from day one.

How to prepare for a job interview at Mondrian Alpha

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
