A leading alternative credit specialist is seeking a visionary Head of AI to architect, scale and own the firm’s AI strategy across the full private credit lifecycle. This is a unique opportunity to build an AI function from first principles inside a high-growth investment business where technology, data and advanced analytics are now core to value creation.

The firm deploys private capital into complex, data-rich credit opportunities. Our mandate is to transform how the investment, underwriting, risk and portfolio teams ingest information, interrogate data, and make decisions. You will define and build the AI capability that powers this next chapter.

The Opportunity

• Build the AI strategy and roadmap from scratch – spanning underwriting, deal sourcing, operational due diligence, risk, portfolio monitoring, and investor analytics.
• Architect end‑to‑end AI and ML solutions that extract signal from unstructured, fragmented, and high‑dimensional data sources (financials, documents, legal contracts, operational datasets, market feeds, alternative data).
• Lead the development of intelligent workflows: automated document intelligence, smart data extraction, entity resolution, knowledge graphs, and ML‑driven credit assessment engines.
• Create a modern infrastructure for experimentation, feature engineering, model governance, and continuous deployment.
• Partner directly with investment professionals to identify high‑value use cases that enhance speed, precision, and information advantage.
• Shape the firm’s long‑term data architecture – advising on data ingestion pipelines, storage, retrieval, lineage, and compute strategy.
• Hire and lead a world‑class AI team as the practice scales.
• Own model risk, interpretability, and compliance frameworks appropriate for regulated markets.

This is a role for a builder: someone who wants to design the blueprint, implement the foundation, and scale an enterprise‑grade AI function inside a business where adoption will be immediate and strategic.

What We’re Looking For

• A senior AI leader with deep experience in applied machine learning, NLP, LLMs, predictive modelling, and decision‑support systems.
• Proven ability to architect and deliver production‑grade AI systems, ideally within financial services, credit, fintech, private markets, PE/VC, or data‑heavy investment environments.
• Strong engineering pedigree – comfortable designing technical architecture, working with modern cloud platforms, and owning end‑to‑end MLOps.
• Fluency across the data lifecycle: ingestion, transformation, quality, feature stores, monitoring, and deployment.
• Experience working with unstructured data at scale: documents, filings, contracts, PDFs, emails, notes, third‑party data vendors.
• Ability to translate ambiguous business requirements into concrete, high‑impact AI solutions.
• Leadership skills suited to a newly created practice – entrepreneurial, hands‑on, low‑ego, high‑accountability, and deeply collaborative with senior stakeholders.
