The Group operates a highly centralised treasury function using state of the art treasury systems. Centralised funding of 120 subsidiaries, daily cash pooling of 400 bank accounts in 18 currencies, hedging of the Group’s FX exposures are all undertaken through a central finance company by a small professional team based in the UK and Vienna. We are currently recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join our back office team playing a key role in our daily treasury operations.
Reporting to the Assistant Group Treasurer, the Accounts Assistant is responsible for supporting the Treasury Accountant with the financial accounting and reporting of all Treasury activities including debt, cash, FX and related areas. Alongside this, operating the Group’s intercompany netting process, daily bank reconciliations and supporting Group subsidiaries with ad hoc treasury queries. This is a graduate role with on‑the‑job training and study support towards the ACCA chartered accounting qualification. You’ll work closely with both the Front and Back office treasury teams and gain valuable exposure across all aspects of the treasury function, making this an excellent first step into your accounting and finance career.
Key Accountabilities
- Support daily and monthly financial reporting, including assisting with month‑end activities.
- Provide accounting support and backup to Treasury Accountant on all treasury activities.
- Understand treasury and derivative accounting process and policy and ensure compliance with Group Treasury and Accounting policies.
- Liaise with the group auditors and provide support to audit requests in relation to all treasury activity.
- Maintain, develop and improve treasury reporting including liaison with relevant stakeholders within the business.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the team, providing administrative support to help work progress efficiently and on schedule.
- Obtain a good working knowledge of in‑house and external treasury systems and provide back‑up to the Treasury Accountant and Treasury Manager on key processes.
- Working to standardise and streamline existing manual excel based processes where possible.
About you
- Good standard analytical / numerate degree (2:1 minimum) and A-levels.
- Intention to study for ACCA qualification. Support will be provided.
- Confidence working with numbers, with good analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Organisational and administrative abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Willingness and ability to learn bespoke in‑house IT systems, including updating and searching databases and carrying out routine tasks.
- Willingness to take on additional tasks and projects.
- Comfortable asking questions and seeking clarification when needed, recognising this as an important part of learning and collaboration.
