The Transport and Logistics Planner is responsible for integrating production scheduling with transport planning to ensure efficient end-to-end supply chain flow. The role ensures that manufacturing output aligns with customer demand, vehicle capacity, material availability and service level targets.
Reporting To: Production Manager
This role involves but is not limited to:
- Develop and maintain daily and weekly production plans aligned to customer demand and operational capacity.
- Coordinate closely with Production, Warehouse and Customer Services teams to ensure achievable scheduling.
- Monitor raw material availability including paper, top board, pallets and consumables to prevent downtime.
- Plan and schedule internal fleet and third-party transport to meet delivery requirements.
- Optimise vehicle routing using transport planning software and ensure compliance with driver hours legislation.
- Brief and debrief drivers and manage route performance through telematics and KPI reporting.
- Manage pallet accounts including CHEP and LPR transfers and ensure accurate stock control.
- Coordinate supplier relationships including negotiation of pricing, service levels and compliance documentation.
- Control warehouse and production consumables purchasing within agreed budgets.
- Produce daily, weekly and monthly KPI reports covering OTIF, capacity utilisation and service levels.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities across production and logistics planning processes.
- Ensure that all maintenance and servicing activities are appropriately planned, scheduled, and completed in line with the required due dates.
- Maintain accurate system data including delivery points, stock levels and vehicle records.
Your Profile:
- Proven experience in transport planning within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in production planning or supply chain coordination.
- Strong understanding of transport compliance and operational KPIs.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capability and familiarity with planning systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong stakeholder communication skills across operational and commercial teams.
