Requirements
- Qualified to practice law in the UK
- 5+ years of relevant experience, ideally as in-house product counsel in a technology company
- Experience assisting global technology companies in launching new products and services, advising on AI, SaaS, data governance, and technology partnerships
- Deep knowledge of UK/EU regulatory frameworks (GDPR, AI Act, NIS2, etc.) and understanding of global digital, privacy, and AI developments
- Strong ability to translate governance and regulatory trends into practical guidance
- Strategic thinker with strong business judgment, ownership mentality, problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Highly motivated, collaborative and proactive, with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams in a global environment
What the job involves
- We are seeking a highly motivated Legal Counsel to join our Product and Technology Legal team.
- This is our first product-focused legal role in the UK, working alongside our commercial legal colleagues in the region.
- As part of the global Legal-Tech team, you’ll closely support our UK and EU development teams and advise on product counseling, governance, AI, data privacy, and technology regulation.
- You’ll collaborate with Product, R&D, Security, BI, and Sales to drive innovation while ensuring compliance in an evolving regulatory landscape.
- This is a unique opportunity to scale monday.com’s governance strategy, and position the company at the forefront of technology, privacy, and regulatory compliance, contributing to our global strategy, risk management, and regulatory engagement.
- Monitor and analyze EU/UK and global regulatory and policy developments, including AI, data governance, and digital regulation. Identify emerging issues and translate them into actionable business strategies and advice.
- Develop and implement governance frameworks, playbooks, and compliance processes to support cross-company alignment and accountability.
- Advise on the legal aspects of product development throughout the product lifecycle, from ideation to launch.
- Partner closely with Product and R&D teams to ensure legal, privacy, and governance considerations are built in from day one.
- Provide practical, business-oriented guidance on legal risks for new and existing products, features, and go-to-market initiatives.
- Support R&D and Product teams in embedding ‘legal by design’ into product development.
- Counsel on privacy and data protection matters, ensuring compliance with UK/EU and global data protection laws (including AI governance and security standards).
- Build and deliver internal training and guidance on governance, privacy, and regulatory compliance for cross-functional teams.
- Draft, negotiate, and manage a variety of technology, licensing, marketing, and IP agreements.
- Support marketing initiatives, ensuring compliance with privacy, IP, consumer protection and advertising laws.
- Contribute to IP strategy, including trademarks, patents, and enforcement where relevant.
- Collaborate with global legal teams to ensure consistent approaches to technology, privacy, and governance across regions.
