Join North East London Foundation Trust Talking Therapies senior management team, to play a pivotal role in re-shaping the centralised duty referrals team. You will provide daily clinical oversight of the management of new referrals requiring screening for risk and eligibility for the Talking Therapies services in NELFT. The role provides senior clinical leadership, service development opportunities, and the chance to contribute to innovative psychological practice across all 4 of NELFT Talking Therapies services.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated CBT Therapist to provide clinical leadership for newly developed duty referrals team and working closely with the referrals administration team. The successful post holder will lead a small team of 3 staff to enhance patient access to the services and will oversee the speedy onward referrals to secondary care mental health teams.

Additionally, you will need to be able to work for the most part autonomously, with minimal supervision. Working within professional guidelines, you will need good and sound decision making of clinical cases. The role requires you to provide specialist consultation for the assessment of risk and eligibility for primary care treatment. Furthermore, provide assistant and training to Talking Therapies staff and develop advice and guidance to other professionals outside of the service.

Location

Post is hybrid, working mainly remotely from home, with requirements to attend staff training and meetings across NELFT (Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge & Waltham Forest). Main staff meeting location will be at the NELFT HQ at Goodmayes Hospital, IG3 8XJ.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on the daily delivery of a centralised duty referrals team, assess for risk and eligibility.
• Continue with the ongoing development of the duty referrals team and its processes.
• Provide clinical leadership, supervision and support to qualified Senior Mental Health Nurses, and trainees, PWPs / High-Intensity Therapists.
• Deliver specialist psychological assessments, and an ability to formulate risk and eligibility with limited information.
• Attend talking Therapies senior meetings, assist on consultation, training, audit, evaluation and service improvement initiatives.
• Manage and support staff performance, workloads and service delivery in line with Trust priorities.

About You

You have significant experienced as a High Intensity Therapist and will be accredited to level 2 with the British Association Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP). A substantial expertise in risk management, and proficient understanding of complex mental health presentations is essential for this role, with a good understanding of mental health disorders presentations. You will have the ability to evaluate patient symptoms and disorders, then be able to compare them against the criteria for primary care. Conversely, you will be able to identify those patients either at risk of harm to self or others, and those in need of secondary care in put, and pursue the correct referral and pathway for the patient.

Essential Requirements

• Completed post-graduate training to level 2, accredited by the BABCP.
• Formal training in supervision of, or eligibility for BABCP accreditation supervisor’s course.
• Proficient understanding of diagnostic criteria and ability to use evidence-based decision making.
• A minimum of three years’ experience working within Talking Therapies services.
• Experience of training staff and clinical supervision.
• Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal skills and ability to hold boundaries.

Desirable Requirements

• Trained in the secondary modality of therapy.
• Completed post-graduate specialist qualification with additional training in clinical risk. Or attended CPD relating to risk management.
• Experience of working outside of Talking Therapies primary care setting.
