Design & Technology Technician β Secondary School
Location: Birmingham
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time (Term Time Only)

Monarch Education is partnering with a secondary school in Birmingham to recruit a dedicated Design & Technology (DT) Technician for September 2025. This role involves supporting a well-equipped DT department and facilitating creative, practical learning for students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing resources and materials for practical lessons in various DT disciplines such as resistant materials, electronics, and graphics.
- Maintaining and repairing tools, machines, and equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
- Monitoring stock levels and managing supply orders.
- Conducting safety procedures and risk assessments.
- Supporting students and staff during practical lessons, providing guidance on equipment use.
- Keeping the workshop and classroom areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
Requirements:
- Experience as a DT Technician in an educational or workshop setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of DT machinery and tools (e.g., saws, drills, laser cutters, 3D printers).
- Understanding of health and safety regulations applicable to workshops and schools.
- Strong organizational skills and proactive support for practical learning.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one.
