Monarch Education is seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced Learning Support Assistant to join a secondary school in Nailsea. This is a full-time position required to start 1 September 2026. The school is looking for a versatile and compassionate Learning Support Assistant with experience supporting pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, and a strong understanding of working with students with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Responsibilities
- Provide classroom support for identified students
- Collaborate with teachers to support adaptive teaching strategies in the classroom
- Assist in supporting students at recreational times when required
- Communicate with colleagues and other agencies through verbal reports and by keeping records of visits and/or activities completed in accordance with school procedures and guidelines
- Contribute to the good order and running of the school by undertaking other tasks deemed reasonable by the Headteacher and commensurate with the grade
Candidate Profile
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Teaching Assistant with experience in a secondary school setting and a strong understanding of supporting pupils with SEND. The ideal candidate will possess:
- NVQ level 2 in literacy and numeracy or GCSE grade A* – C
- Experience of working with children and schools
- ICT skills at a basic level
- Ability to work flexibly within a team
- Ability to motivate students by demonstrating a positive attitude
- Reliability and resilience under pressure
- Excellent and effective communication skills
- Resilience and the ability to adapt to different classroom environments and pupil needs
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Availability to work full-time, Monday to Friday during term time
