Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs? Do you have experience working with children or young adults who require additional support? We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Secondary SEN School in the Bury area from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of students with a range of complex learning needs, helping them to achieve their full potential in a supportive and nurturing educational environment.
The Role
- Support students aged 11-16 with a variety of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
- Work closely with class teachers and the wider support team to deliver engaging learning activities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support both inside and outside the classroom
- Help students develop their academic, social and emotional skills
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence
- Support students with personal and pastoral needs when required
The Ideal Candidate
- Have previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN setting
- Are patient, empathetic and adaptable
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Are passionate about supporting students with additional needs
- Can build positive relationships with students, staff and parents
- Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience (desirable but not essential)
