Monarch Education, part of Affinity Workforce, is working with a welcoming and supportive primary school in the B45 area to recruit an experienced Year 2 Teaching Assistant. This full-time role involves supporting pupils within the classroom, delivering small-group and 1:1 interventions, and assisting with daily teaching and learning routines. The school is seeking a confident, nurturing practitioner with strong experience in Read Write Inc (RWI) phonics, as this will form a key part of the support provided. You will work closely with the class teacher to ensure that children receive high-quality learning opportunities that meet their individual needs. The position is full-time, Monday-Friday, starting after half term and continuing until the end of the academic year.

The Ideal Candidate Will

  • Have strong experience working in Year 2 or across KS1.
  • Have practical experience delivering Read Write Inc (RWI) phonics, including leading small groups confidently.
  • Be confident delivering 1:1 and small-group interventions to support learning, reading, phonics, and basic skills.
  • Hold a Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Supporting Teaching & Learning, or an equivalent recognised childcare or education qualification.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher to support whole-class learning, behaviour routines, and day-to-day classroom organisation.
  • Support general Year 2 duties such as preparing resources, phonics and reading activities, and maintaining a calm, structured learning environment.
  • Build warm, caring relationships with pupils and use positive behaviour management strategies consistently.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, reliability, flexibility, and a child-centred approach.
