About the Role
- Monarch Education is seeking a dedicated and resilient
- Support Worker to work within an
- Alternative Provision setting , supporting children and young people with
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs .
This rewarding role involves working with pupils who may have experienced barriers to education, trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), or behavioural challenges.
You will play a vital role in helping students re-engage with learning, develop positive relationships, and achieve both personal and educational success.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide
1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
- Build positive, professional relationships that promote trust, engagement and emotional wellbeing.
- Support pupils in managing emotions, behaviour and social interactions.
- Implement behaviour support strategies and individual intervention plans.
- Encourage participation in learning activities and promote a positive attitude towards education.
- Support students during lessons, enrichment activities and unstructured times throughout the school day.
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, families and external agencies to support pupil progress.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, progress and interventions where required.
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults in an educational, care or support setting.
- Knowledge or understanding of
SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, trauma-informed practice or alternative provision environments .
- Strong communication, relationship-building and de-escalation skills.
- A patient, resilient and empathetic approach.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience within an Alternative Provision, PRU, SEND school, youth work, residential care, support work or mentoring role.
- Understanding of restorative approaches and behaviour management strategies.
