About the Role
Monarch Education is recruiting a caring and dedicated
Personal Care Assistant to support children and young people with complex additional needs within a specialist school in the NG3 area.
This rewarding role involves providing both educational and personal care support to pupils with a range of needs, including
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and complex medical needs .
You will play an important role in ensuring pupils can access learning opportunities while supporting their health, wellbeing, dignity and independence throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with personal care needs, including toileting, changing, feeding and personal hygiene.
- Assist students with mobility and physical support where required.
- Provide
1:1 and small group support within the classroom.
- Support pupils with communication, sensory and emotional regulation needs.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists and healthcare professionals to meet individual needs.
- Promote independence, confidence and social development.
- Encourage engagement in learning and school activities.
- Maintain a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment at all times.
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals in a care, education or support setting.
- A compassionate, patient and caring nature.
- Confidence supporting personal care needs whilst maintaining dignity and respect.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to remain calm and adaptable in a busy environment.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting individuals with SEND, Autism, PMLD, SLD or physical disabilities.
- Moving and Handling training.
- Experience in schools, care homes, residential settings or healthcare environments.
- Knowledge of Makaton, PECS or alternative communication methods.
