About the Role

Monarch Education is recruiting a caring and dedicated

Personal Care Assistant to support children and young people with complex additional needs within a specialist school in the NG3 area.

This rewarding role involves providing both educational and personal care support to pupils with a range of needs, including

Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and complex medical needs .

You will play an important role in ensuring pupils can access learning opportunities while supporting their health, wellbeing, dignity and independence throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with personal care needs, including toileting, changing, feeding and personal hygiene.
  • Assist students with mobility and physical support where required.
  • Provide

1:1 and small group support within the classroom.

  • Support pupils with communication, sensory and emotional regulation needs.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists and healthcare professionals to meet individual needs.
  • Promote independence, confidence and social development.
  • Encourage engagement in learning and school activities.
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment at all times.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals in a care, education or support setting.
  • A compassionate, patient and caring nature.
  • Confidence supporting personal care needs whilst maintaining dignity and respect.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and adaptable in a busy environment.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience supporting individuals with SEND, Autism, PMLD, SLD or physical disabilities.
  • Moving and Handling training.
  • Experience in schools, care homes, residential settings or healthcare environments.
  • Knowledge of Makaton, PECS or alternative communication methods.
