About the Role

Monarch Education is seeking a passionate and resilient

Alternative Provision Tutor to support pupils who are unable to access mainstream education due to a range of social, emotional, behavioural, or additional learning needs.

Working on a

1:1 basis or with small groups , you will deliver tailored learning sessions, helping students re-engage with education, improve their confidence, and achieve positive academic and personal outcomes.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of vulnerable young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and personalised learning sessions aligned to individual pupil needs.
  • Support pupils who may present with SEMH needs, SEND, challenging behaviour, or have experienced barriers to education.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships that promote engagement and progress.
  • Adapt teaching approaches to suit different learning styles and abilities.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback on pupil achievement and development.
  • Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing, and emotional resilience.
  • Liaise with schools, parents, carers, and other professionals where required.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and intervention outcomes.
  • Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to motivate and engage learners who may be disengaged from education. Confident managing challenging behaviour and responding calmly under pressure.
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Desirable

  • Experience within Alternative Provision, PRU, SEND, SEMH, youth work, mentoring, or tuition settings.
  • Teaching, tutoring, coaching, or support work experience.
  • Knowledge of autism, ADHD, SEMH, and trauma-informed practice.
  • Relevant qualification in Education, Youth Work, Coaching, or a curriculum subject.
  • Experience delivering 1:1 or small-group interventions.
