About the Role
Monarch Education are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to support pupils with physical disabilities and personal care needs within a specialist SEN school in Mansfield. This is a highly rewarding role focused on supporting pupils to access education, build independence, and maintain dignity while receiving essential care and learning support. You will play a key role in helping pupils engage with tailored learning activities and develop both their academic and life skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with physical disabilities and complex needs
- Support pupils with personal care needs, including toileting, hygiene, and mobility, ensuring dignity and respect at all times
- Assist with manual handling and physical support, following appropriate training and guidelines
- Help pupils access lessons through adapted and differentiated learning activities
- Support the use of communication aids and visual resources where required
- Encourage independence, confidence, and social interaction
- Assist in implementing EHCP targets and individual care/support plans
- Promote emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other SEND professionals
Requirements
- Experience supporting children or young people with physical disabilities and/or complex needs
- Comfortable providing personal care and physical support
- A caring, patient, and empathetic approach
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow care plans effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Adaptability to meet individual pupil needs
- Passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
Desirable
- Experience in a specialist SEN school or care setting
- Manual handling training
- Knowledge of mobility aids and physical support strategies
- Relevant qualifications in education, care, or support work
- Team Teach or similar behaviour management training
