Monarch Education is seeking a dedicated and confident SEND Teaching Assistant to support children with special educational needs at a Primary School in Rubery. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about inclusive education and committed to providing high-quality support to pupils with diverse and complex needs.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to provide tailored support to pupils with SEND, including those with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, physical disabilities, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. You will assist in delivering structured support in line with each pupil’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
Key Responsibilities
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEND
- Implementing strategies and adaptations outlined in pupils’ EHCPs
- Supporting communication, sensory, behavioural and emotional needs
- Assisting in the preparation and modification of learning materials
- Promoting independence, confidence and positive engagement in learning
- Working collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs and external professionals
- Offering personal care support where required
- Helping maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment
Essential Requirements
- A recognised Level 3 qualification, such as Supporting Teaching and Learning, Early Years, Childcare, or SEND equivalent
- Confidence supporting children with a range of SEND, including challenging behaviour
- Experience working in a school or educational setting
- Strong communication skills and the ability to form supportive relationships with pupils
- A patient, proactive and empathetic approach
