We are currently recruiting an experienced Deputy Headteacher to work in a Nursery School based in Erdington, Birmingham. This is a full-time, term-time only position, starting as soon as possible and continuing on an ongoing basis.
The successful candidate will have strong Early Years leadership experience and a passion for supporting high-quality education within a nurturing, child-centred environment.
Key responsibilities include:- Supporting the Headteacher in day-to-day leadership and operational management
- Delivering and maintaining high standards of care, learning and safeguarding
- Leading and supporting nursery staff to create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment
- Overseeing site responsibilities and holding the site when required
- Acting as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and promoting a robust safeguarding culture
- Supporting children’s developmental needs and driving high-quality Early Years practice
- Collaborating with external agencies, parents, and internal teams
- (Ideally) leading SEND provision as SENDCO – not essential but highly desirable

- Be DSL trained (essential)
- Have proven leadership experience within Early Years
- Have experience with site responsibility and the ability to hold the site independently
- Hold a recognised Early Years qualification
- Have a minimum of 12 weeks’ recent experience working in an Early Years setting
- SENDCO qualification/experience is desirable but not essential
