Location: Bromsgrove

Hours: 32.5 hours per week (8:30am – 3:30pm)

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Type: Temporary (with genuine potential for permanent placement)

We are currently recruiting two Behaviour Mentors for a specialist provision in the local area. These positions are not classroom-based and will involve providing focused, 1:1 support for a single student. This is expected to be a long-term placement, working Monday to Friday.

About the Student

The role will involve supporting a secondary age student with Down Syndrome. The student is physically strong, and their behaviour can at times be unpredictable. Despite these challenges, the student is a kind, engaging young person who is very willing to learn. They benefit from working with staff who can stay calm under pressure and respond confidently in the moment.

Key Needs of the Role

The student communicates using a combination of speech, visual aids, and signing. Clear, patient communication is essential, as they can be difficult to understand at times.

  • Confident in managing challenging behaviour
  • Skilled in de-escalation and thinking on their feet
  • Patient, resilient, and consistent
  • Strong communicators, able to use or learn visual supports/signing
  • Available Monday-Friday
  • Enthusiastic, reliable, and able to build positive relationships

Experience in SEN, behaviour support, care, or specialist settings is highly desirable.
