Monarch Education is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a friendly and supportive primary school located in central Bristol. This is a rewarding opportunity for a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a nurturing resource base from September.

The Role

You will be working on a 1:1 basis with a pupil who has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The child is Autistic (ASD) and non‑verbal, requiring consistent, patient and structured support throughout the school day. This is a highly rewarding role where you will play a key part in helping the child feel safe, engaged, and supported in their learning and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 support tailored to the pupil’s individual needs
  • Supporting communication using appropriate strategies (e.g. visual aids, PECS, or Makaton where applicable)
  • Assisting with engagement in learning activities within the resource base
  • Encouraging social interaction, independence, and emotional regulation
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support staff
  • Helping to maintain a structured, positive, and calm learning environment
  • Supporting personal care if required

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children with SEND, particularly Autism (ASD)
  • Is patient, nurturing, and resilient
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Can build strong, trusting relationships
  • Is proactive and able to adapt to the child’s needs
  • Has good communication and teamwork skills

Relevant TA qualifications or training in SEND strategies are desirable but not essential.
