Are you experienced in supporting children with SEND and looking for a part-time role in a school setting? We are currently working with a Primary School in the Handsworth area of Birmingham to recruit a SENCO Assistant for any 2 days per week (excluding Tuesdays). This role involves supporting the SENCO with administrative tasks, pupil observations, and liaising with staff and external professionals.
Requirements of Applicant:
- Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Ideally previous experience working with or assisting a SENCO
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Understanding of EHCPs, referrals, and SEND documentation
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the SENCO with pupil observations and progress tracking
- Assist in preparing and updating SEND documentation and provision maps
- Liaise with teaching staff, support staff, and external agencies
- Help coordinate interventions and monitor their impact
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to review meetings
- Promote inclusive practice and support staff with SEND strategies
- Provide occasional in-class support for pupils with additional needs
