Monarch Education are supporting a secondary school in the Small Heath area with the recruitment of an Assistant SENDCo to start in September. This is a full-time, long-term role, with temp to perm opportunities available for the right candidate. The school are looking for someone with strong SEND experience who is ready to step into a more involved support and coordination role.
You will be working closely with the SENDCo to help ensure students with additional needs receive the right support, interventions and guidance throughout the school day. This role does not require QTS. Strong experience supporting children or young people with SEND is essential. This could be a great opportunity if you are currently working as a SEND Teaching Assistant, HLTA, Learning Mentor, Inclusion Support Worker, Pastoral Support Officer or in a similar school-based role.

The role will focus on supporting students with a range of additional needs, helping to remove barriers to learning and ensuring support plans are followed effectively. You will also help with communication between staff, families and external professionals, making sure information is accurate, up to date and shared appropriately.
What you’ll be involved in- Supporting the SENDCo with daily SEND provision
- Helping coordinate support for students with additional needs
- Supporting with EHCPs, annual reviews and student support plans
- Monitoring student progress and identifying barriers to learning
- Helping organise interventions and targeted support
- Liaising with teachers, support staff, parents and external agencies
- Keeping SEND records accurate and up to date
- Supporting students with learning, emotional, social or communication needs
- Promoting inclusive practice across the school
- Following safeguarding and school policies at all times
The school are looking for someone who has:
- Strong experience working with students with SEND
- Experience in a school or education setting
- Good understanding of additional needs and inclusive support
- Confidence working with EHCPs, support plans or interventions
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- A calm, patient and professional approach
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- Confidence liaising with families and external professionals
- Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
