Monarch Education are seeking a passionate and dedicated Academic Mentor to join a vibrant secondary school located in Birmingham, starting as soon as possible. This full-time role presents an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students’ academic progress by providing targeted support and guidance across a range of subjects. As an Academic Mentor, you will work closely with students on a one-to-one and small group basis, helping to bridge learning gaps, boost confidence, and support progress in key subject areas. You will collaborate with teaching staff to tailor interventions and ensure students receive the support they need to thrive.
The Candidate will need:
- Experience working with secondary school students in an academic support role
- Strong subject knowledge in English, Maths, or Science (or a combination)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive and empathetic approach to supporting learning
- Ability to motivate and inspire students
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering targeted academic interventions to individuals and small groups
- Supporting students in understanding and applying key concepts
- Monitoring and reporting on student progress
- Collaborating with teachers to identify learning needs and plan support
- Encouraging positive attitudes towards learning and academic achievement
- Promoting a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment
