A well-established Secondary SEN School in Oldham is seeking a committed and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support students with a range of additional learning needs throughout the 2026/27 academic year. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and thrive both academically and personally. The school offers a supportive environment where staff work collaboratively to ensure every student receives the encouragement and guidance they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible lessons
- Support students on a one-to-one basis and in small intervention groups
- Encourage student participation, confidence and independence
- Help manage classroom behaviour through positive reinforcement strategies
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support their development and wellbeing
- Contribute to creating an inclusive and positive learning environment
What We’re Looking For
- Have experience supporting children or young people in an educational, care, youth work or support setting
- Demonstrate patience, resilience and a proactive attitude
- Be confident working with students with a range of SEN, including ASD, ADHD and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Possess strong communication and teamwork skills
- Be committed to helping students achieve their individual goals
- Hold relevant qualifications or transferable experience (desirable but not essential)
