We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a supportive and inclusive school in Sheldon, South Birmingham from September 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with additional needs, supporting them both academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of SEN needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, speech & language difficulties, SEMH)
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning plans
- Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Adapt classroom resources to meet individual learning needs
- Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
- Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (school or care setting preferred)
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, TA qualification) are desirable but not essential
